Carissa Cabrera

Carissa Cabrera is a marine biologist, ocean climate advocate, and founder of Futureswell, an ocean storytelling platform dedicated to inspiring a global conservation community. She is an Ecuadorian American based in Hawaiʻi, where she works with community restoration groups to integrate indigenous management with modern conservation to protect our ocean. For the past 10 years, Carissa has focused on building systems and programs for ocean recovery efforts related to endangered species, ecosystem restoration, conservation financing, community outreach, and environmental literacy. Carissa's work, company, and media projects are united by the shared goal to increase connection to the ocean, accessibility to climate action, and accelerate conservation solutions for everyone.
