John Piehler
Senior Associate
My name is John Piehler, and I am a Senior Associate at American Efficient, an energy efficiency aggregator and energy market participant; I’ve worked full-time with the team for three and a half years. I specialize in finance and strategy, supporting the growth of businesses that address climate challenges within complex regulatory frameworks by using my skills in financial forecasting, capital allocation, and operations.
My passion is figuring out the best way to push solutions and people to their full potential. My work includes raising incremental debt and equity capital, trading distributed energy resources to optimize energy market service revenues, and developing a culture of learning and development. Building our summer internship program and leading community engagement and professional development efforts on our DEI team have been opportunities to positively impact my company and community.
I’m motivated to address the global climate crisis because of my belief in the connection between people all around the world. This conviction was strengthened while attending the University of North Carolina, where through the Kenan-Flagler Business School I studied abroad with a cohort of students in Hong Kong and Copenhagen. In addition to my travel bug, I love to play/watch soccer and listen to music - hobbies that pull me further into the global community of athletes, fans, and audiophiles.
