Serena Pelka

Policy Advocate

Serena Pelka (she/her) is a climate policy advocate and creative systems-thinker with a Master of Development Practice degree, focused on climate solutions that improve quality of life. She is currently a Policy Advocate at Climate Action Campaign, a nonprofit based in Southern California, where she works to create a zero carbon future through effective and equitable policy action. Through this role, Serena advocates for renewable energy and building electrification policy.

Serena has a wide range of experience including providing environmental consulting services across the San Diego region, working as a CivicSpark Climate Fellow focused on climate action plan implementation, and serving clients through refugee resettlement and immigration programs. She is dedicated to community-focused and equity-based climate action and is passionate about helping foster connections that bring people closer to each other and the Earth.

Growing up in Ontario, Canada, Serena earned a Bachelor of Arts, Honours degree in Environmental Governance from the University of Guelph, studied Human Ecology at Lund University in Sweden, and graduated with a Master of Development Practice from the University of Waterloo.
